It's easy to get lost within the mythology and the complexity of the relationships & forget why you care about the 2 characters

Thoughts: As a fan of Dana Marie Bell's Halle Shifters series, I was eager try out another book of hers from a different series. This is book #4 in the series and I was a bit leery since I usually like to start from the beginning when it comes to books that tie together. But this one sounded so interesting I figured I would give it a shot and hope for the best.
To be honest, I didn't like it as much as her Halle Shifter series. It was interesting and a novel idea, but there a few things that bothered me about it. First off, it was a bit hard to get into - and keep up with - what was going on if you hadn't read the whole series. It's further complicated by the fact that there are sooo many names to try to keep up with - as well as who is what to whom when it comes to their relationships and family trees! For the most part it was very confusing.
Another issue for me was the fact that really not alot was focused on the main characters and their acceptance of the desire they had been fighting for centuries. The relationship was just really a side note on the state of events and what was happening in the bigger picture. While that was enjoyable, I really missed the capacity that these characters had to connect with one another. I missed getting to know the characters themselves within the book.
If you're not already a fan of the series, I would recommend starting at the beginning. And if your new to Dana Marie Bell's works, I wouldn't judge all of her books on this one.
Overall, not my favorite of her works. It's easy to get lost within the mythology and the complexity of the relationships - and forget why you care that these two characters in particular.

Keeping with the series the story was fast paced in developing the current conflict and internal plot, while also developing the overall Norse mythos. In fact I'd say this book clarifies the pantheon better than the first in the line. As for the two main characters, they had very likable qualities and yes you wanted them to end up together, but it was also lacking. The romance between them was sweet like a cheap Valentine's Day card. You read it and think that's cute before it's thrown away and forgotten.

Think about it. It's true.
So, A LOT happens in this book, & we see a bit of foreshadowing for the books to come. I always get excited when I read about fu-bos, but that might just be me. There is some sad news for any fellow fans out there. . . No Vicente in this book, merely a casual mention. I know, I know. *sigh*
